What to Spend Your Gems On

Rise of Kingdoms can be quite generous with giving Gems, especially when you are later in the game. But what you decide to spend your gems on is really important, you don't want to waste these bad boys.

Gems for VIP

My opinion, and what I feel the general consensus is from reading around the internet is that gems should really only, or mostly be spent on increasing your VIP level and its best to do that when the More Than Gems event is live, which is usually every couple of months.

Or of course if you are close to the next tier of a VIP level, then spend your gems to get there as fast as you can, especially if you are approaching one of the critical VIP levels which will give you either 1, 2 or 3 Legendary Heads every day.

Gems for Legendary Commanders

Apart from using your gems to purchase VIP you may also need to get some gold stars from time to time, also some events offer reasonably good value such as Wheel of Fortune and Card Game in terms of the amount of gems you need to spend for the probability of getting Legendary Heads.

If there is a Legendary Commander that you really want to get and he comes up in the Wheel of Fortune or Card Game, then all you need to do is get 10 of those commander heads to unlock him. These are generally also Gems well spent.

Gems for Books

Another thing that some Governors decide to spend their gems on is Books of Covenant to upgrade their castle, but really, raising your VIP levels to 12 is a much better route. After that you are getting two free Legendary Heads every day, at that point it probably would be great to take you Castle to Level 25 as soon as you can so you can start the upgrades to Level 25 of your hospitals and the Academy and then start to complete the final researches to get to T5.
