I’m in a camp, with a friend. We both want to roommate together, but he’s in area 1 and I’m in area 3. We can’t seem to get to each other’s camp. How can either of us get to each other’s area?

By using quick travel.

However, when you're currently on your own manor, you cannot quick travel directly to side your roommate's manor. You need to be outside of your island first.

What do you mean roommates manor??? And what do you mean move your camp to the gate so that you can see your friend or what??? I’m just really confused, please help me out

You can move your camp closer. Go to the lot next to the other manor and go to the gate. From there you'll get it
