Before you can plant crops and trees in your farmland, you need to have seeds or saplings first. Some can be acquired automatically by completing quests but for normal means, there are still several ways of acquiring them.

Saplings, seeds, and the like are rare and random drops when you’re chopping trees or collecting berries. They can also be obtained from supply crates and chests that you’ll find in the wilderness. This is not reliable since getting them entirely relies on luck.

Map Occupy Merchants may have these for sale. These are NPCs set by the occupying private camp in a map and they’re hanging out in safe locations like the cabins in Fall Forest or inside Caves in Sand Castle. You won’t find them if there’s no private camp that has control over the map. Just survive long enough in a map and complete missions on those maps to earn “score”. You can use this to purchase from these merchants though they will be limited per day.

You can buy saplings from Stronghold Battle NPCs in Fall Forest and Sand Castle. (Stronghold Battles will be unavailable for low-level players) Whenever you complete a Stronghold battle, you’ll earn points called Exploit. You can exchange these to a lot of items, including saplings. These are not limited though other items such as maps or upgrade materials have fixed daily limits.

If you’re really desperate and have some gold bars to spare, you can buy them straight from the mall. If there are ongoing events like the Rice Dumpling Event, you can exchange the event-exclusive currency (in this case Wormwood Leaves) from the event market or flea market to obtain this saplings, seedlings, or seeds you want.
