What is the benefit of joining a camp? Camp seems to cost me money and taxes my resources, is it worth it?

In a camp you will have access to certain exclusive shops and merchants to buy stuff and make upgrades for weapons etc. There will be specific quests to complete which earn you gold and you can protect the camp by killing zombies which will give you stiff to sell for money. As the camp grows you should get more benefits as well.
