Genshin Impact is an outstanding RPG that is heavily inspired by BOTW. It is one of the hottest titles now, as the game is available on multiple platforms. While this free-to-play game is rich with single-player content, it has mobage or mobile game elements included in the form of the Wish (gacha) system. As you play the game, you’ll be able to make several wishes which will result in acquiring multiple copies of characters and weapons you already have. Please read below to learn how to efficiently use these duplicates.

What to do with Duplicate Characters and Weapons

Eventually as you play the game, you’ll be able to get enough primogems and fates through various quest and/or event rewards. Of course you’ll always use these to Wish for new characters and weapons. With all these wishes, you’ll eventually encounter copies of characters and weapons you already have. How do you manage them, you ask? Well, the process is going to be different from characters and weapons.

Duplicate Characters

This is applicable to copies you’ll obtain through Wishes, event rewards, or exchanged through the Shop.

After obtaining a copy of a 5-star character, you’ll get a Stella Fortuna and Masterless Starglitter x10. This will be true until the 7th copy of the character. From the 8th copy onwards, you’ll obtain Masterless Starglitter x25 instead. Stella Fortuna is used to unlock new talents in the character’s Constellation.

For the copies of 4-star characters, succeeding copies will yield a Stella Fortuna and Masterless Starglitter x2 until the 7th copy. From the 8th copy onwards, you’ll obtain Masterless Starglitter x5 instead.

Duplicate characters are usually sought after since they will further empower your characters. However, new, high-tier characters are still desirable. There’s also no use holding on Stella Fortunas since they can only be used on the same character so use them immediately to unlock new or improve existing talents.

Duplicate Weapons

For duplicate weapons, you can use the extra copies as Weapon Refinement Materials, which will permanently enhance the weapon’s skill. You can refine up to a maximum of 5 times, in which you can use the extra copies as enhancement material or destroy them in exchange for enhancement stones.

There are decent 3-star weapons that are worth refining but for the other weapons, you don’t need to waste Mora especially if you won’t be using them frequently or at all. Don’t hesitate refining weapons that you can use for a long time, especially if their effects complement the characters using them.

And there you have it; a quick rundown about what you can do with your extra copies. They’re not necessarily a bad thing unless you’re extremely lucky (or played for a long time) that you’ve reached a point that you don’t need those copies anymore.
