Genshin Impact focuses on single-player content, however, there are some mobile-game elements brought to limit player progress. One such feature is the original resin system. End-game artifacts as well as weapon and character ascension materials are acquired by defeating bosses and clearing domains. To open the chest rewards for completing these challenges, players have to spend resin. This valuable resource serves as a limiter that prevents players from excessively (and reliably) farming high-quality loot. In this page, we will discuss how this system works and how you can efficiently utilize this valuable resource.

The resin system has seen some updates over the last few months, as listed below:
* Permanently boosting the max resin they can keep to 160. The resin replenishment rate still remains the same rate as before.
* Players are also able to convert original resin into Condensed Resin for later use. (Use one Condensed resin to get double the amount of rewards from Leylines and Domains). You can keep up to 5 condensed resins.
* You can buy 1 Transient Resin from your Serenitea Pot once per week using the pot's own currency. However, unlike condensed resin, the transient resin is only available for a certain period of time. You'll need to use it (converting it to 60 original resin) before countdown expires; otherwise, it will just dissipate and get wasted.
* Every week, you have 3 chances of halving the resin cost of the rewards obtained from weekly bosses. You'll be able to collect the rewards for the first three weekly bosses at 30 resin each. The fourth weekly boss you defeat will require the original 60 resin cost to collect its reward. The order you defeat the bosses doesn't matter. (Stormterror, Andrius, Tartaglia, and Azdaha)

What is Original Resin?

This is the moon-like icon on the upper-right corner of your map. This is used to open reward chests from completing domains or after defeating bosses. You don’t have to bother with this early on since this won’t have any use to you until you increase your adventure ranks and the bosses added to your Adventure Handbook. However, once you have access to it, you should consider using it as part of your daily playtime routine.

Since you’ll only have a very limited amount of resins that you can acquire per day, you should prioritize using it on bosses whose drops you’ll immediately need. The number of activities that will require resin will increase as you rank up your Adventure Rank so prioritizing and planning will help in a much efficient progression.

Replenishing Original Resin

Original Resin is replenished over time at a rate of 1 resin every 8 minutes up until you reach the maximum resin capacity of 160. Alternatively, you can also spend 50 primogems to replenish 60 resin, up to 6 times a day. This cost increases as you spend primogems to replenish the resins.

You can also use consumables called Fragile Resin which restores 60 resin. However, these are extremely rare and can be obtained in limited numbers as adventure rank rewards or in limited numbers by reaching certain Battle Pass levels. Other than what we mentioned here, there’s no other ways to expedite the natural replenishing rate.

How to Replenish Original Resin

You can buy 1 Transient Resin from your Serenitea Pot once per week using the pot's own currency. Since your pot will earn this currency passively, it's basically a free 60 resin refill every week. Unlike the condensed resin however, the transient resin is only available for a certain period of time. You'll need to use it (converting it to 60 original resin) before countdown expires; otherwise, it will just dissipate and get wasted.

Update April 2021:The resin system changes so far have improved a lot since the game's launch and we're happy that Mihoyo is listening to the suggestions of the players. The resin system will not go away since it will still be used as some sort of limiter (and something that players can spend on) to keep players playing. However, we're excited what Mihoyo has to offer as the game as proved to be a smash hit and turned into an enjoyable and outstanding game.
