If I lost the 50/50 on a banner will the next 5 star promotional character also be guaranteed on the next 5 star banner instead of the one I lost the 50/50 on?

That is correct. Let's say you're pulling on the Childe banner and triggered the pity system on your 75th roll and got a different 5*. The next time you trigger your pity rate is guaranteed to be an event 5*, regardless of banner. You can use this knowledge to plan ahead, especially if you're aiming to get a new character.

What if you won the 50/50? Is the next roll still going to be a 50/50 or a guaranteed roll?

50/50 probably, because I got an event 5* twice in a row before losing to 50/50.
