The Squire's Tale is an escape puzzle game from Haiku Games, playable through their Adventure Escape Mysteries app. A quest to find the sword of light and defeat the Monster King.

In Chapter 5 you saved the Yeti's of Mittenheim from the Freezing curse and found the final Altar. Now you are heading to the Forgotten Forrest to look for the Sword of Light.

In the forest you meet Kruk a troll who needs help from Cedrick and Martin before he will let you pass over the bridge. Tap on the lower left to move to the river bank to see what Kruk needs.

You talk to Kruk and Oakley the tree to find out that a witch has placed a spell on the dam in the river, you need to find a way to remove it.

Collect the crooked branch that Oakley drops for you. Then also take the dead fish from the river bed. Tap on the clothes hanging from the tree and you will collect one of them as well.

Go back up the steps on the right to the bridge gate, place the crooked branch on the table with the lantern and then add the tattered short to it as well, this will make a torch.

Now you can use the lit torch on the dark entrance to the woods on the right to enter the woods.

Witches Hut

Tap on the spider webs on the left, this will start a scene where Cedrick managed to get stuck in the webs, you then need to complete a puzzle game to rescue him.

Spider web Puzzle

  • The web grid has empty slots and there are spare tiles around the sides
  • Place the spare tiles into the slots to make a patch that connect the mother spider with all of the baby spiders.
  • Do not let any of the paths join up to Cedrick in the center.
  • You need to use all of the tiles to complete the web
  • Check the solution below

Now that the spider is gone you can use the torch on the webs to release Cedrick. You will then also collect some Spider Webs.Now tap on the Witches hut, it will stand up (it has legs).

Then you can tap under the house to see a spinning wheel and other items. Collect some dried mushrooms from under the bench on the right and a Pedal from the shelf on the left.

Place the dried mushrooms into the mortar and pestle that is on the bench on the right to grind them up, you can then collect Mushroom Powder. Now use the powder on the small cauldron that is on top of the shelves on the left. A magic scroll will appear, collect this.

Next add the pedal to the spinning wheel in the center and then use the spider webs on it. You will then gain some spider silk.

Now look on the green water on the left where the spider webs were to see a skeleton holding a bow and with an Arrow in it. Use the spider silk on this and you will collect a Shortbow (Bow and arrow)

Use the shortbow on the rope ladder that is on the front of the hut, this will release it so that you have a ladder the climb to get to the hut.

You can now tap on the dreamcatcher on the hut to collect it. Then before moving on tap on the cat and then use the Dead fish on it to tempt it down to the ground. You will then receive a Tumbler that was around it's neck.

Now tap on the statue in the trees on the left, it is holding a box with a combination lock. Add the tumbler to it that you just collected.

Notice the crow on top. If you close the view and then tap on the tree with the crows in it next to the statue you will see a clue.

The trees have letters in the branches. Concentrate on the ones that the crows are near. and count the crows around them.

You should be able to notice that there is 1 crow near the L, then 2 crows next to an O. 3 around the letter V, 4 on the letter E and 5 next to the Letter D.

Return to the box on the statue and open it with the code

You will receive a Wand. Now go back to the left to the Bridge and then down to the rover bank to see Oakley and Kruk.

Give the dream catcher and the magic scroll to Oakley, After studying it he will tell you a spell to use with the wand. Use the wand on the Dam to recite the spell. After Nira casts the spell and Kruk smashes the dam you can continue on over the bridge.

Collect a lever from the reeds on the right under the giant mushroom. Then tap on the door to the mill to look inside.

Collect the hand rake fro the tool rack and then tap on the flowers on the floor to find and collect a Bow Drill. Now tap on the 3 open drawers above the flowers, this will push them in and make the top closed drawer open. Collect the Garden gloves.

Now place the lever in the switch box on the left side to activate the mill, then head back out. On the ground in the middle are some stink weed plants, with the red flowers. Use the gloves on these to collect them.

Now tap on the left to see a giant sleeping tortoise.

Use the hand rake on the Tortoises's nose to clear away moss that you will collect. Next place the moss on the logs on the lower right and then use the bow Drill on the logs to start a camp fire.

Now use the Stinkweed on the Tortoise, this will begin to wake it up, it will fall asleep again, Keep using the stink sap to wake up the tortoise until it finishes telling you how to get to the Pond of Remembrance to find the Sword of Light. The Path of Storms.

You can then collect some Moon mushrooms from the rock on the left. Place these next to the camp fire and you will get Dried moon mushrooms.

Now go back into the mill and place the dried moon mushrooms into the mortar and pestle to get Moon powder.

Then back out and use the moon powder on the spinning windmill to use the magic. A path of glowing mushrooms will appear.

Tap on the glowing mushrooms to climb up to the cliff and find the path of storms. This starts a puzzle game.

Path of Storms Puzzle

  • Find a path from the left side to the exit arrow on the right.
  • Move by selecting a yellow square to move to.
  • If you land on a square with wind it will push you forward to the next square in the direction of the wind.
  • When the lightning strikes you need to shelter under a mushroom square.
  • Lightning strikes every 5 moves and will be preceded by a warning thunder clap on the 4th move.

Once done you will arrive at the Pond of Remembrance.

Star secret: in the left bank of the pond below the left hanging torch.

Use the Moon Powder on the hanging torch lights and you will see colored frogs appear in the scene, as well as some symbols on the trees. Notice that the 6 symbols on the tree match to the shapes or pattern of the 6 lily pads.

Find and tap on the 6 frogs to get them to jump down to the lily pads. There is one hidden begins a leaf.

Tap on the tree symbols to view the closer, you will see a purple puff flying around from one to the other. Notice the order that it flies in.

Now you can view the lily pads again and tap on them in the order that you got from the tree symbols

The sword of light appears from the water.

Tap on the Sword of Light to try to get it. You then need to use the pendant to release it.
