The Squire's Tale is an escape puzzle game from Haiku Games, playable through their Adventure Escape Mysteries app. A quest to find the sword of light and defeat the Monster King.
In Chapter 4 you have won the Tournament of the Mightiest mind in Morrocas but are now back on track in your quest for the Sword of Light, and with the help of Nira you head to Mittenheim where a curse has frozen all of the villagers.
Tap on the small snowman (snowyeti) on the left to collect 2 buttons from it. And then tap on the snow to the left of it to also collect an Ice scraper. Next tap on the door to the General Store building to collect a letter.
Next use the ice scraper on the frozen box on the right to clear it so that you can then open it. This is a electrical control box and you need to fix it to restore power to the town .
Electrical Box Puzzle
- The board contains nodes with numbers.
- You need to connect the nodes together with wires so that each node has the same number of connections as the number on it.
- Tap pairs of nodes to connect a wire between them.
- You can only connect in horizontal or vertical directions

Once done you then need to help Cedrick with his panel. It is a harder version of the same puzzle.

Now tap on the window of the general store to look inside. There are items for sale with labels. The writing on them seems to be in 2 languages and you can see numbers above symbols.
Now look at the letter in your inventory to read it and see the parcel pin code. There are 4 symbols, use the labels in the window to translate the symbols to numbers.
Next tap on the machine outside the Snow Bank building on the left, this is a parcel store. Add the numbers that you have collect to it.
Now use the code that you have found from the letter and labels to retrieve the parcel.

You now collect the General Store Key. Then use it to open the door and go inside.
The General Store
Collect the large Snow shovel from next to the counter. Then head back out side and use the shovel on the mounds of snow blocking the blue house at the back.
Once it is cleared you can enter the Scholars house.
Scholars House
Star secret: on a gold colored jar on the lower shelves on the right.
Open the folder on the round table on the right to see that all of the pages of the field guide are missing. Then tap the papers on the floor to tidy them and locate 1 field guide page to collect. You can then find 3 more guide pages be opening the cabinet door below the door and also the small cabinet to the right of the door.
Collect also a Candle from the small cabinet by the door and a storage key from the cabinet below the door. You can then use the key on the large storage chest on the right with the fish emblem. Collect from inside a Fishing Rod and an Ice Drill. Then collect a red Jar opener from he shelf below 3 clocks.
Next add the 3 pages to the field guide folder so that you can collect it, you can view this in your inventory to see a list of possible ingredients in 3 categories, with their traits listed as symbols.
Now view a paper note on the wall next to the door for a further clue,
Then finally tap on the chalk board to see the puzzle.
Recipe Puzzle
- The clues on the chalkboard tell us the traits that we need to look for.
- The top row in white are good traits that need to be included.
- The lower row in red tell us traits that must not be included
- If you examine the 3 guide pages you will be able to find 1 item in each that meet the criteria
- The fourth item is round on the note on the wall.
- When you have the 4 items set them in the boxes at the bottom

Once you set these on the board Martin will confirm the items needed. You need to head out to collect the items.
Exit through the door and go into the General store again. There is a jar on the right that you can now open with the Jar opener. Do this and you will collect some Jerky. Then use the candle on the fire to get a Lit Candle.
Back outside there is now a dog on the left, give the Jerky to the dog. It will then move to the signpost in the distance tap on the dog again to follow it to the lake.
Lake
Star secret: on the big fir tree behind the dog.
Use the candle on the pink flower in the snow on the top right. This is a hatch flower and the heat will make it bloom, you can then collect it.
Place your fishing rod on the metal stand on the lower left and then use the ice drill to make a hole for the line. Collect a shiny ornament from the tree on the left behind the snowman and ten add it to the line to use as bait. This will start fishing and you will get some Shimmer Scales.
Next tap on the basket by the snowman, the magical snowman will talk to you and ask that you play a game in return for some of the crosen berries.
Snowman Challenge
- For this puzzle you need to arrange the snowmen on the board so that Cedrick and Nira can destroy them all in 1 go.
- They will destroy all snowmen on the blue and green paths.
- You have a limited number of turns to move the snowmen around to set them into the correct places.
- THere are 3 levels to the challenge.
- The first level has 3 moves.
- The second has 5 moves.
- For the final level you have 5 moves again and there is a boss level target that must be hit by both of the attackers to destroy it.

Return to the house of the scholar to make the potion. First take the pink chemical from the bench. Then open the large pot on the left.
Add the pink chemical and then the other 3 ingredients into the pot, then when the lid closes tap on it to see the controls.
You need to find a password and the temperature and moisture settings.
Create the Potion
First we need to find the buttons to press on the grid on the left.
Hint: check the map on the wall on the eight.
Solution: notice the path runs down from the top left, through the center and down to the lower right.Show
Next we need 3 numbers for the temperature.
Hint: the numbers on the pot have lines, squares and circles.
Solution: look at the 3 clocks on the shelf, one has lines, one has circles and one has squares. Get the times from the clocks to give you 238Show
Finally you need the moisture setting.
Hint: check the hanging cloud ornament

Final settings

Tap the power button on the right to start the process. After a few hours it is ready and you can continue. Exit the house and use the potion on the frozen Yeti outside. You will then need to visit the general store and the lake to save the other 2 Yeti's you have seen.
Once you have saved them all return to the scholar and he will lead you to the altar.
Altar Cave
Collect the Ice Pick and the Ox statue from the left side and then tap on the back pack to open it. Collect the rope from inside and then collect the back pack as well.
Next use the rope on the Penguin statue which is down on a low ice shelf. This will let you collect it.
Then use the ice pick on the other statue of a Frog that is in the ice on the right on the far side. Once you have the 3 statues you can place them on the left side of the giant scales.
To balance the scales you now need to add the back pack, ice pick and rope, you can then make your way over to the Altar.
After charging the pendant you complete Chapter 5. Now to head to the Forgotten Forest in The Squire's Tale - Chapter 6
