I am being asked to merge with another alliance because they say I'm small and won't survive but I just took over this alliance and am new to starting out have gained lots of hero's ect... Will I lose anything by merging with another alliance?

You will not lose anything. In fact, being in an alliance with many active members will make it easier to grow.
