Your Settlement is your home, and as the Chief, your job is to improve it as well as protect it from threats. Along the way, you’ll be able to clear and expand the settlement until your home is fully realized. You’ll then need to know what facilities you can focus on if you know what they can provide.

In this guide, we’ll provide you with details if how your settlement works, as well as tips on which ones to focus. Learning to manage your settlement can be tricky since you’ll be requiring time to construct, upgrade, and then look after your resources. But once you learn how the flow of how your settlement works, you should be able to run them with ease.

How do I unlock all facilities?

If you have checked our previous page on how to expand your settlement, you’ll learn that every facility will be available to you once you have cleared your settlement. If you play through the game’s story, reaching Chapter 3 will already be an area where you must have unlocked all facilities. More specifically, the requirements that you will need in order to unlock the last ones are to have your Headquarters at level 12.

Remember, that you are capable of rearranging all of the facilities available by dragging and dropping them across the settlement. A lot of ground can be used for your facilities, so be creative with how you want your settlement to look like.

Importance of Resources

There are four types of resources that you’ll have to manage in the game: Food, Wood, Metal, and Gas. In regards to starting out your facilities, that most important resources are Food as well as Wood. These can be obtained from your story rewards, harvesting them in the wilderness, as well as products from your facilities.

Resources are important because they are the materials that are used in order to upgrade facilities. If you click a facility, you’ll see it in the list. As you progress through the game and reach higher levels, you’ll also be requiring to use Metal as well as Gas. Any material rewards that you receive can be stored in your backpack as well, so make sure to check there if you run out of resources.

Construction time and queues

Initial unlocking of facilities are instant, and they require a few numbers of resources only. In real life, construction can take quite some time but thankfully this is just a game and it's not as long. However, as your facilities improve on their levels, they will require more construction time as well as resources and some can take an hour or more. You can check this on the requirements of each facility as well.

You might be wondering what a Queue is as well, since sometimes you’ll see that your queue gets full. If you look at the main screen, you’ll see two icons on the left side that look like hammers. These will tell you if there’s an ongoing construction or not. When you decide to upgrade a facility, the timer will be shown there in regards to the completion time. The second slot is locked unless you purchase it, or you can use 500 Biocaps in order to hire construction for two days.

Managing your construction is important because the facilities that you upgrade are one of the requirements in order to progress through the story. The things that you upgrade are also one of the tasks that you need to do in order to complete the daily missions in the game.

Your Headquarters

One of the first facilities you’ll get familiar with is your Headquarters. This is one of the most important buildings in your settlement that you’ll focus on as you progress through the game. You might be wondering what its purpose is as well when starting out since it doesn’t provide much as you initially think.

If you were in a real-life situation where a zombie apocalypse is ongoing, you’d want to have a headquarters in your settlement right? It’s similar to a city hall or any government office where you’ll have to make decisions for your environment, or do any planning. This is the same function of the Headquarters in State of Survival, because it determines the maximum level of the facilities on your settlement.

Any other facility cannot be upgraded further than the current level of the Headquarters. Also, most of your other facilities in the settlement can only be unlocked once you reach a specific level of your HQ. You’ll also be able to check your headquarters to look for different settlement buffs in relation to combat and development (custom is still being developed).

Tip: Once your whole settlement is fully cleared, you’ll want to focus on upgrading your current facilities to match your Headquarters

Now that you know more about the settlement in general, you might be wondering about what every other facility does in the game. We shall be updating this guide and creating a page dedicated to the different facilities available, so please stay tuned. If you have anything to add please let us know below. If you have any questions for the game please head to the Answers Page to ask there.
