Survival, as the name of the game implies, is one of the most important factors that you need to focus on. As the Chief of your settlement, you must protect the people you have rescued from the infected, as well as other kinds of threats. So, are there facilities that help you achieve this goal?

Welcome to our defense facilities guide. Here we’ll discuss the different kinds of facilities that help you protect your settlement, as well as your troops. Once you have fully completed expanding your settlement, you can focus on improving your defenses.

The Barricade

When playing the game for the first time, this is one of the features of your settlement that you begin expanding. Clearing the entire area will then let you have one huge barricade surrounding your settlement in order to protect everyone inside. But what exactly does the barricade do aside from being a fence to look at?

The barricade helps you defend your settlement from incoming attacks. This include attacks from hordes of infected, as well as attacks from other people. Whenever infected come to your settlement, your barricade can hold them off for a certain number of hours before they’ll be able to get In and harm your people.

When other players attack your settlement, you have a defense set based on your barricade’s level. When your barricade’s defense is reduced to zero, you get teleported away from your current location, you wouldn’t want that if you’re with an alliance right?

Settlement Defense: The strength of your barricade will also depend on the heroes that patrol it. There are events in game like Hordes where enemies can attack you. If your troops aren’t in your settlement, they cannot defend it. Your top three heroes are the ones stationed by default, and they protect your settlement. If nobody is stationed for settlement defense, you can easily be infiltrated by enemies!

Barricade Upgrades

So what effects do upgrades provide for your barricade? Like other facilities, each upgrade that you do for your barricade increases your battle power. But the unique attributes for barricade upgrades are increasing its durability, as well as the hours that can your barricade withstand an attack from the infected. All of the upgrades for the barricade can be seen below:

The Lookout Tower

Being able to know if an enemy is on the way is a handy way for you to prepare yourself when defending. This is what the Lookout Tower is for since it helps signal you for incoming danger. You don’t need to actively use this facility since it will alert you by flashing your screen red.

For example, during horde events, any enemy wave that’s incoming to your base will trigger the alert. You will the be able to check the tower to see the estimated time before you get attacked. During this, you can recall any troops deployed in the wilderness so they can go back to the settlement and prepare for defending it.

Whenever enemy players send recons as well, your lookout tower can detect this. The tower can help camouflage your settlement during recon from other enemies if your upgrade level is higher. This can help protect your settlement if your enemy doesn't know much information if they try to send in a recon team.

Lookout Tower Upgrades

So what are the bonuses that you can get for upgrading this facility? Aside from the battle power you can achieve, you can also increase your recon level, as well as recon camo level. Not only that, but your recon capabilities get better per upgrade as you can check extra information as well. The list of upgrades that you can get can be seen on the table below:

The Blast Shelter

When clearing out your whole settlement, you’ll be able to unlock the Blast Shelter as one of the final facilities for your settlement. If you click on it, you’ll only find that you can hide your troops. There are no upgrades that you need to do for this facility at all, so what does it mean when you hide troops?

The Blast Shelter is a place where you can save your troops from danger from enemy attacks. There can be instances where there’s an incoming attack from an enemy that’s power is way too high compared to yours. If you want to avoid any losses of your troops, you’ll want to protect them. This is what the Blast Shelter is for.

If you click the Hide Troops button, you’ll be able to select which troops you’d want to hide, as well as the duration that they’ll be hidden. Rarely you’ll need to use this facility, but it’s an option that’s available to keep your troops safe. The higher Tier troop you have, the longer it takes to train them as well. This is why your high tiered troops are valuable and you’d want to hide them when needed. Protecting your settlement and your troops are vital for the game as you progress.

This covers our defense facilities guide for State of Survival. Now that you know the benefits of the upgrades you can get from them, try to upgrade at the same time as your HQ in order for it to be balanced out.
