Military and Training Facilities Guide
State of Survival Guide
As you expand upon your Settlement, you’ll be providing a home for different survivors that you rescue across the land. Not only will you have survivors to be rescued from the settlement, but you’ll also have those that can be found in the wilderness. Once they step in your grounds, it’s your duty as chief to station them as troops in order to protect everyone.
With a zombie outbreak, you need to defend yourself as well as attack in order to defeat enemies. Your settlement is not just a home, but this is where you will act as chief and direct your troops. With this, comes the different kinds of military facilities that you can have on your settlement. This guide will help you understand what these facilities can do, and their importance to your survival.
Building your Military Facilities
You might be wondering what kinds of military facilities are available for you to build. If you have already reached Chapter 3 in the game, and have fully expanded your settlement, then you should already have access to the Range, Garage, and Barracks which are used to train your troops. However, there are military facilities that you need to build as well.In order to have access to all military facilities, you need to upgrade your Headquarters to Level 16. As you increase your levels, you’ll be able to add more of them when needed. Here are the different military facilities that you can build:
The Workshop will be the last military facility that you’ll gain access to once you reach HQ Level 16, this is why you need to focus on upgrading your other facilities accordingly. The Military facilities are needed as they facilitate the teams that you send on marches while in the wilderness.
Training Facility Functions
Unlike your Economic facilities which produce resources, the military ones all involve you as the Chief, as well as your troops. They also tie in with the survivors that you rescue, as well as the other facilities where you train them. Whenever you rescue survivors, you will be able to train them accordingly through the following:You will need to continuously train your troops, because doing so will provide you with increased Battle Power at the end of training. This provides you a way of gaining Battle Power without having to upgrade a facility, and this also helps determines your capability when attacking and defending, since you do not want to be taken down by others fast. As you upgrade these three, you’ll gain access to better types of troops as well.
So, how do the other military facilities that you build come in play to this? All of them relate to your troops and they have a specific function each that will help with your people. The hospital provides recovery for your troops which is vital for your battle power. The training camps provide you with increased capacity in terms of using the training facilities so the higher levels, the better. If you lose any troops in battle due to your hospital being full, you can recruit new ones through the enlistment office as well. Finally, you can provide gear for your chief once you have the workshop unlocked, which increases your battle power further.
Military Facility Upgrades
What are the different upgrades that you can get your military facilities? Improving your battle power is important, and keeping your troop functions up to the task is needed in order to survive in a zombie ridden world. Here are the details of the facilities, including which upgrades you can get.Hospital: Whenever your troops go out to battle, they can get injured as well. Once they have returned to your settlement, you must tend to your troops in order to get them healed. Any troops that you don’t give medical attention to can die in battle.

As your Headquarters level increases, you’ll be able to construct multiple training camps as well which will add up.
Once you have multiple camps set up, you must upgrade each of them so you can maximize the troops you can have that will train. Doing so will help develop your army, as well as increase your battle power. Their upgrades can provide the following bonuses:

Enlistment Office: During battle, there can be an inevitable part where you can lose your troops if they die. The enlistment office is a facility that lets you enlist survivors in order to replace the ones that you have lost. If you first have this facility unlocked, it can indeed be confusing what it does first since when you open it you won’t see any buttons that you can press. By default, you’ll have 0 duty. You can only enlist survivors if you have Duty points earned.
So how can you enlist troops then? This facility is tied to your hospital in terms of its capacity. If you have wounded troops and they exceed the capacity of your hospital, then the enlistment office will then be the ones to recruit to replace your troops.
Duty can be acquired automatically whenever troops can be enlisted, so you’ll have to check this facility from time to time. Once you use this, you can recover troops and get an increase in battle power to compensate for the ones that you have lost. Take note that the enlistment office will stop recruiting if your duty capacity is full, so make sure to enlist your troops from time to time. There aren’t any upgrades for the enlistment office. So, an important factor to consider is that duty can be obtained through your daily activities, and it’s increased based on the level of your Headquarters.
Workshop: Once you have reached HQ Level 16, you'll be able to access the Workshop facility. Here you can create gear for your heroes by using Hero Gear Parts. They provide bonuses to your heroes and increase their battle power as well. Different bonuses can be obtained depending on the type of gear you are crafting. Upgrading the gear also requires the same parts, and these can be acquired through Influencer Traps.
Training Facility Upgrades
You want to train as much troops as possible, as well as get battle power increases. Not only are upgrades to your training facility needed, they can be requirements when improving your headquarters as well. When you first unlock these facilities, you get to command specific types of troops. Increasing the level of the facility will then let you unlock more types along the way which are stronger than the types beneath them. Here are the different types of troops available per facility:
Facility | Troop Type |
---|---|
Barracks | Grunts > Heavies > Rushers > Blasters > Slashers, Survivalists, Hackers, Guerillas, Maulers, Executioners |
Garage | Rovers > Scramblers > Angels > Skirmishers > Hogs > Rangers > Raiders > Banshees > Demon Raiders > Death Cruisers |
Range | Archers > Rifles > Shooters > Trackers > Crossbows > Marksmen > Sharpshooters > Hawks > Nightstalkers > Bullseyes |
So how do you specifically unlock these types of troops? You’ll want the best type possible in your army which is why upgrading your training facilities are a must. Depending on the level, you can unlock the better type per facility, as well as increasing the training capacity and battle power for your chief. The table below applies to all three types of facilities:

Command Station and Upgrades
All of the troops in your army have one thing in common, rallying. Whenever you send out your heroes and troops, you can lead with specific heroes and a number of chosen troops in battle. This has a capacity as well as seen in the limit on the image below.Having a higher capacity will let you gain more power versus the opponent you are fighting with. In order to increase this, you will need to upgrade your command station. This is one of the facilities that you can acquire once you are near clearing your entire settlement. On its own, the facility doesn’t do anything, it just needs to be upgraded in order for you to get the benefits for rallies, as well as battle power.
