Once you have cleared your Settlement, you’ll reach a point in the game where you’ll be able to save a Doctor who can provide research for you. Even if you are currently living in a zombie filled world, it doesn’t mean that you’ll have to give up on sciences in order to improve. The Research Station is a facility that has two primary functions: Incubation of Biocaps, as well as conducting work in the Research Lab.

What do these two do for your Settlement, and why is researching important? In this guide we’ll discuss the bonuses that this facility can provide, and what bonuses they can give as you upgrade the facility. This is one of the most important facilities in your settlement since it provides a lot of effects in different areas of the game.

Research Lab Functions

As the name implies, the Research Lab is a place where your Doctor can conduct research in your settlement. Is this the only function of this facility though? There are other functions available as well here since the Research Lab can be used to increase the amount of biocaps that you have.

The Incubator is a function that lets you place your Biocaps and then get growth in return after a specific period. Similar to a bank where it can receive interest and increase money, the incubator does the same with your biocaps. There are growth options for the following time periods: 1 Day, 7 Days, 15 Days, and 30 Days. The first of which will need to be unlocked by purchasing it.

If you have excess Biocaps that you won’t consume, you can place them in the incubator in order to get increased amounts for future use which is quite straight forward. This can become handy in the long run since increased levels for your facilities will require longer construction times, and you may want to speed things up using biocaps.

Meanwhile, the Research Lab lets you spend resources and time in order to conduct research on different fields for your settlement. You can learn passive buffs that can affect your development, battle, and economic sections of your settlement and troops. Researching is important because you can gain increased yields in terms of resource production, as well as a stronger army which is necessary for survival.
