Cryptogram Letters and Numbers

Cryptogram Letters and numbers is a tricky puzzle game. If you enjoy word puzzles though its a good one to get stuck into.

The game comprises quotes and sentences from well know people, songs, movies, books and more. The actual phrases though may not be so well known, which makes solving them a little tricky.

Cryptogram Game Hints

First we have some tips for the game itself.

• If you play on a smaller screen device then you can visit the settings by tapping the Gear icon and increase the font size. This can make it easier to see the numbers / symbols below the missing letters.
• Pay close attention to the indicator symbols in certain categories, e.g. the Pop Hits with the musical notes. Unfortunately you cannot currently change the type of indicator symbol for the categories and some can be hard to tell the difference between.
• Unlock More Levels

  Some of the categories may not be your cup of puzzle solving tea. So use those coins that you earn to open and try different categories. You can quickly earn more coins by watching the adverts in the game.

Cryptogram Hints and Tips

These are a collection of useful strategies and techniques for solving crytopgrams, many of these are based around the rules of the English language.

• Fill in the known letters

  When you start and as you discover new letters, fill in the matching spaces (same number / symbol) to clear that letter. This will help give you clues for other words in the text.

• Letter Patterns

  Pay attention to single letters in the text. Commonly these will be A or I.

  Look for other small words. The most common 3 letter word is 'The' but there are others of course. Consider the most likely 2 letter words for the context of the sentence you have. These will generally contain 1 vowel and 1 consonant.

  Look for double letters, or repeating letters in a word (2 of the same number or symbol). These can give you more clues to the letters and the whole word they are in.

• Punctuation

  If the puzzle contains apostrophes, then these can also help to identify the word, I'M is common But it could also be I'D. An apostrophe before the last letter could be a plural 'S or the end of CAN'T, DON'T etc.

• Longer text means more clues

  Make sure to scroll down to read all of the long text items. It can seem confusing but there may be letter clues unlocked to full in and more clues to find.

• Practice

  As with many puzzles, practice is a big help. The more cryptograms you solve the better you will get at spotting the clues and hints.
