What are the best Defensive Operators in Arknights? In this game, there are two classes which excel in defense. We have the Defender which have high health and defense, their main objective is to block enemy units on their path. The other one are the Guard who have decent DPS and are within close range, they also block enemy units from progressing.
In this tier list, we cover those units in the defensive category. Take note that Tier Lists are subjective and they are only meant as guidelines for making your team. This list provides no particular order, but it lists what we think of the best units for this category as of Jan 27, 2020.
Hoshiguma

Hoshiguma is one of the best Defenders in the game thanks to her defense and HP which is one of the highest in the game. Her talents enable her to get a chance to resist physical and arts damage, and she can also increase the DEF of all defenders. When you use her skill, she can get increased defense and attack power, which makes her defending capabilities much better.
Saria

Saria is a defender with very high defense, and great HP. Thanks to her talents, she can stack up increased ATK and DEF over time. She’s a Defender that’s able to restore HP of allies as well thanks to her skill. It’s good to position her near allies that can’t survive for long.

SilverAsh is a great guard with well rounded stats. He has good hp, and balanced ATK and DEF. His talents enable him to get increased ATK, as well as reducing your allies’ redeployment time. He can also reveal invisible enemies within his range. Once he uses his skill, his next attack damage is increased substantially.
Vulcan

Vulcan is a Defender with one of the highest HP, she also has one of the higher ATK and DEF stats for Defenders. Her talents enable her to restore her own HP, she can also gain physical dodge which enables her survivability to be longer. When her skill is used, you can get increased block, DEF, as well as restoring your HP.
Nearl

Nearl is a Defender with very good DEF, decent HP as well as ATK. She excels in helping others with healing as well which is boosted further using her talents. When you use her skill, she can restore HP of allies that are nearby. This combination is useful for keeping other operators alive, while you tank out enemies.

Croissant is a defender with one of the highest HP and Def stats in the game. Her talents enable her to resist physical and arts damage by chance, and she can spread this to her allies as well. If you use her skill, she can get increased Def and her talent effects are boosted as well.
Lappland

Lappland is a Guard with well rounded stats, her HP, ATK, and DEF are all similar in amounts. Her talents enable her to disable a special ability of a target for a few seconds. Her skill enables her to get increased ATK, as well as a chance to resist Physical Damage which is great for survivability.
Franka

Franka is a Guard with great HP as well as Attack, however her defense isn’t great therefore she’s more offensive. Her talents increase her attacking capabilities more by letting her ignore enemy defenses by chance. When she uses her skill, she gets increased attack and attack speed, she’s best used for taking down enemies and outliving them thanks to her HP so avoid using her when they come in hordes.

Savage is a guard with decent HP, ATK, and DEF which makes her well rounded for the first parts of the game. Her talent enables her to get increased atk and def id there are more than two ranged grids in the four surrounding grids which makes her a bit situational. Once she uses her skill, her next attack will get increased damage.
