Rathalos
TEPPEN Guide
We tried searching for a good Rathalos deck online via various reliable sources and so far we only found iterations of the red-green decks we featured above. We have tested the deck against all heroes in the highest difficulty in Practice mode and some player matches, maintaining a good win-rate so we can vouch that this build is reliable and consistent. We’ll also be able to explain how the deck runs so you can get to it. QR code included as well.
First, let’s discuss the hero art of choice for this deck. Rathalos’ Wrath Awoken gives Flight to a friendly unit and boosts its attack by X, where X is the number of times your units’ attack has been boosted by an Action Card. As such, most of the deck’s action cards have attack-boost effects.
All units in the deck are green, with the heavy use of the two Felyne variants and popular choice even for other decks, Iris. With their complete set in play, you have 9 MP-boosting units, 6 of them have built-in shields.
Since the deck is running 2 colors, it can only have up to 5MP cards. That’s why Heavenly Kicks Chun-Li (5MP, 2/6, Agility + Combo) is the Legendary card of choice. Since she can attack twice, boosting her attack even more is enough melt almost anything in her way.
With access to MP-boost and low MP cards, you should react accordingly to protect your units. That’s why there are x4 1MP action cards that provide a single-use shield to friendly units. However, since the deck is running action cards focused on buffing your units, there’s a risk of getting hard-locked if the opponent manages to destroy your units without giving you a chance to cycle your hand. This doesn’t happen often but most likely when you’re facing Nerg or Wesker decks with destroy cards.
The idea of the deck is to play defensively early in the game until you can set up and maintain a good field presence. Use your attack buffs early on as well so by the time that Wrath Awoken is ready, you’ll have a good flying unit at your disposal. You should always have cards to play during Active Response phase so use that to your advantage as well.
Another variant of the deck is replacing some red action cards like Merciless Attack with some green Victory units like the 5MP Chris Redfield or 3MP Makoto. The idea is to maintain a field presence that will grow for every kill. Buff their attack and protect them with shields to keep them on the field as reliable defenders, then use Wrath Awoken to transform them to terrifying flying units.
