I've started to send my idle construction vehicles to explore recently. Today I somehow so some window which showed current status of explorations, and had a button for recall. I closed the window, but now I have no idea where that came in first place?

Where might I be able to access that explorers status window?

Bring up your list of construction vehicles and click on "View Location" for the vehicle you're interested in. Click on the vehicle moving around. That'll give you the recall button. There is a diamond cost for recalling it though.
