Resource items are the stored boxes of food, fuel, lumber etc that you gain from reward chests for daily challenges / clash of zones etc. These are found in your Items menu or can be accessed at anytime from the resource screens for each resource by tapping the icons at the top of the screen or when using resources for upgrades etc. Using the items converts them into usable resources adding to the totals at the top of the screen.
Just use 5 items to complete this quest.

What you suggest doesn't work. Just spent resources upgrading a building, no points received.

To make it clearer on 'use'. Tap on the food icon top left of your screen. This shows you your current food stored in the warehouse and the production / consumption rates. At the bottom is the option for 'Use Item' and a total of your Stock, this is the stored rss items you have in your bag / inventory. Tap 'Go to' to open the screen to replenish resources. Here you can 'use' any stock items which will take them from your bag and put them in the warehouse. That is all you need to do. AppGamer Replied
