On the daily task how do you achieve the "use resources"?

You need to use items that you have stored that contain one of the resources, you will probably have boxes of food, water, fuel etc that you have from rewards stored in your items. You can 'Use' these directly from the items menu to add the amounts to your active resource totals (at the top of the screen). Or you can activate them while upgrading buildings etc.
