I can't do any research on the institute unless it comes out of the recommended box, which are just the rapid production sections. I tried clicking on the icons but nothing works except for the recommended box. How do I research the other areas?

Sounds like the game is bugged.Restart the game to see if that clears it. And check if there are any updates waiting for the game in your app store. You can also reinstall the game but make sure your game is bound to an email address of other account first so that you can log back in.

If you keep having the problem contact support in the game to ask for further help.
