If I produce troops but do not attach them to a garrison/hero can they remain in the base in an attack..

If I produce troops but do not attach them to a garrison/hero can they remain in the base in an attack and not be part of the combat

No is the answer

If your troops are not part of your apc and next to your hero then they are in the base protected by your apc armies

Once you leave the base to farm with all your apc/convoys the. You are leaving your troops defenseless and they will die during an attack
