Does anyone know what the different shades of green on the state map signify?

Does anyone know what the different shades of green on the state map signify? They say each shade is different (desolate, barren, sparse, dense, wooded) but I'm not sure what those translate to. More zombies? More rss tiles? Longer travel times? Some clarity would be great. Cheers

Better and higher resource level
