How do I obtain pioneer medals?

The pioneer is a hero. Hero medals are gained when you recruit a hero that you already have. (you get a medal instead). So you just need to keep doing the recruitment with the daily free tickets, or other awarded/purchased tickets until you get the hero Pioneer Nora. It is random though and purple heros are rare.
