What does kill unit mean in event challenges like does it mean zombies or rebel bases?

Kill unit task requires that you kill (wound) units from other players. So you need to attack player enemies.

If there is a tier requirement you need to check they have the right troops. E.G. for tier 5 or above then make sure you find ones that are above level 13 and have T5 troops / vehicles to kill.
