If you are a farmer then a certain amount of your stored resources will be protected from attack. Other than this its best to earn resources as items from daily and other challenges rewards and keep them as saved items until you need to use them.

It is possible if you remove all roads to your storages and your resource sites. It won't do anything for money but all your resources will show 0.
