For some heros which I have leveled up, can I reset them and get back all the exp to transfer to a new hero?

There is now the option to 'split' heros as part of the hero upgrade process. This will convert a hero into a hero medal and give back some of the wisdom medals spent on any skills, and possibly other items. However it does not seem to return Exp.
