What is the function skill hero awaken?

Each orange level combat hero has a skill called Awaken. The sixth skill in the list. It is a popular skill as it both increases the might and resistance of the troops in their wave of the APC formation and also gives a large boost to the dictator skill meaning an increase to the number of troops they can lead.

Unlocking the skill is hard as it normally requires 1 or more hero medals of that hero (so you will need to have recruited them more than once to gain a medal).
