How can i protect my resources during an attack?

How can i protect my resources during an attack? Will I lose them each time I am attacked?

If you are a Farmer class then you will have a Depot protection level depending on your base level. This will stop enemies taking all of your resources (protects a fixed amount of each). Other classes have no protection though.

You can also use a shield to stop any attacks

How i protect my gathering resources out of my city when gathering my APC ????
I see to the others players when gathering out from their citys over each resources
a red symbol with two cross-spheres.What is this??

i came a across this depot that needs to be upraded, at level 1 only 50000.. then 90000 nxt lvl.. you can check it at research->base devlpment->depot expansion.... 2nd to the last to be upgraded... the way i understand is, this is the one being protected? lvl 1 only 50000 each of resources is protected the rest will be plundered? im new to the game but please share your thoughts about this.
