How do I increase troops in a single wave ?

The number of troops in each squad and formation is increased by upgrading the barracks building and also by assigning a hero to lead the wave. Look for combat hero with a skill that increases the 'marching capacity' of their squad. Assign that hero and use experience to increase the level of the skill.
