What Are the benefits of missiles?

Missiles can be used to attack players even when they are shielded. If you want to destroy / move a base from the map for example. They can be defended against though with anti missiles.Although these need to be produced (and only for players at or above level 19).

The disadvantage though is that you do not gain anything from these attacks. Unlike siege attacks you get no resources.
