How does Depot Protection work?

How does Depot Protection work? Mine is at 400k. Does that mean if I have less than 400k of a resource, nothing will be taken by the attacker? (i.e. anything over the 400k is vulnerable to be taken)

Also, how does one increase the depot protection amount?

Yes that is exactly how it works. For farmers class only the level is increased as you upgrade your base. All players may also get additional depot protection from the alliance technology research as long as you are in an alliance and the research is done.

Thanks. Can Water and Electricity be looted by an attacker too? I noticed there's no depot protection for either of these

Water and electricity cannot. And cash can only be looted by an attacker of the raider class when he is using his class APC to attack you.
