Does it matter how you stack your hero in your APC?

It is a good idea to check the skills of each hero to check if they relate to a specific type of troops (fighters, vehicles, shooters) to make sure that they are assigned with those troops and also to check if there is an 'effective range' for each skill.

The range will affect how far back they can be placed in the formation (top row is the front row when fighting). Those with short range skills 1-2 will need to be in the top row to make those skill effective against the enemy.

It is not essential to do this but it will maximise the number of skills that the hero will be able to use in a battle.
