Research technology is taking longer then usual? Could anyone tell me why?

What are referring to when you say its taking longer that usual? Each item that you research will have different time requirement for it to complete, when an item has multiple levels each one will take longer than the previous one.
There are some alliance buffs that can speed up your research a little. If you have left an alliance recently then this may have changed the timing a little.
