Doing national quests each day earns you experience that increases your class level. Each class level gives you points to spend unlocking class skills in the 'Class Manual'. Some of these are passive skills that affect your class abilities (fighting, gathering, building etc) and some are cards that you unlock and can then use when you send your APC on a national quest.

Check the Class manual option in the Class hall to see the abilities and cards to unlock.
