How do I increase my fence? I’ve updated my tower 4 times and fence is the same as the beginning of the game

There are little markers outside your fence that you can click and use like an upgrade to unlock more area. But they have an order to be unlocked so you gotta find the first one and start there. It’s like 300,000 resources of all kinds I believe
