Upon defeat while reinforcing an ally, do your troops return?

Upon defeat while reinforcing an ally, do your troops return? Or do my troops stay there to get slaughtered?

If you are defeated enough to wound or kill your troops then your APC should return. If you are strong enough that some troops survive then IO believe they will stay. If the ally is hit enough that their base durability reaches zero and they teleport then your APC will return immediately.
