As the alliance leader (R5) you need to appoint another member as the new leader in order to move down to R4. Go to the alliance menu -> Member Tab. Find the member to promote in your place. Tap their listing to open their details page and select the 'Commandership Transfer' option. There are some restrictions on who can be promoted.
