If you are collecting money then there is no cap on the amount you can collect. Other resources (food fuel etc) have a cap that depends on the level of your dept warehouses.

Food has the Granary Building, Lumber has the Lumber warehouse etc. You need to upgrade these buildings to increase the storage capacity for each resource type.
