What is the difference between "Extra resources from gathering" and "increased gathering speed" in..

Increased speed means that you will gather faster, you will get more resources in less time so the total gather time is reduced.

Extra resources from gathering means that once you finish gathering you will gain a bonus amount of resources. So you will receive more resources back than the amount you gather.
