I am looking for the difference between "annexation" or "Merging" of an alliance?

Annex sends an invitation to an alliance to merge with yours, While Merge will have your alliance merge with theirs. If you send an Annex to an alliance and they don't respond within a certain given time, They will automatically merge over their recent active members to your alliance. same vise versa.
