Defence vs Resistance - what is the difference?

There is hero called Watcher and Gate keeper. One has Resistance, another - Defence.

The Watcher’s (Purple Hero) third skill increases your whole APC’s resistance to enemy attacks (when stationed in the Barracks). The Gate Keeper’s (Blue Hero) third skill only increases resistance for fighters against enemy attacks. You’re better off with the Watcher.
