Illusion Connect Tier List
ILLUSION CONNECT Guide
Illusion Connect is a mobage with a great roster of characters with varying skills, personality, and rarity. However, it’s already a given that not all of them are created equal. Some will become popular choices because of their powerful skills and viability to various team compositions while others will be known for their reliability and field presence. On this page, we will tackle some of the top player picks and look at the best characters in Illusion Connect. Since tier lists can get outdated immediately, we will just cover the top choices and examine the reason why they’re favored by players.
Take note that the partners we listed here are already powerful on their own right. However, take into consideration the attribute boosts and skill upgrades they’ll gain per Lens Upgrade. Unfortunately, you can’t get a preview of their Lens Upgrade progression unless you have the specific partner in your party. And it should also be expected that most top-tier characters are SSR characters.
Miyuki
Class: SpellTraits: AoE DPS, Passive Debuff
Miyuki is one of the best AoE DPS partners that you can get. Her passive skill, Commercial Strength allows all of her attacks to decrease the target(s) Rage by a fixed amount. This is her loadout’s cream of the top, especially whenever she uses her unique skill. Her unique skill (automatically triggered upon summoning her), Fortune Caller deals damage to the entire enemy team. Special skill, Heaven’s Blessing can still deal considerable damage to all enemies in a column while her normal skill is just a standard, single-target attack.
Kiraya
Class: GuardianTraits: Shield-giver, Healing Buff for Healers and Light allies
Kiraya is a great tank, thanks to her unique skill, Lionheart Frenzy, which deals a huge amount of damage to a single unit while also giving allies in the same column as her a shield equal to 20% of her HP. Thanks to her combat passive (Lionheart), Kiraya gets a shield that can absorb damage up to 40% of her HP as soon as you deploy her on the field. Additionally, her combat passive also increases the recovery rate of all allies by 50%, as long as you have 5 Light or Healing class partners in the same lineup/team.
Maki
Class: AttackTraits: Heavy single-target DPS, Leader Assassin
Maki is an outstanding partner, capable of dishing out insane amounts of damage to single-target enemies with all her attacks. Her unique skill, Crimson Moon, deals 400% of her ATK rating, with a 80% chance to trigger a 1-hit combo and 25% chance to deal a 2-hit combo. Her burst damage is especially deadly to softer non-guardian, unshielded targets.
That aside, Maki has two more tricks on her sleeve, in the form of her Combat Passive effects. The first effect activates when Maki dies; 220% ATK DMG is dealt to the enemy leader directly. If your team’s average Lineup Energy is less than or equal to 14, her Combat Passive’s Lineup Skill will be activated: When an ally partner dies, Maki deals 100% ATK DMG to the enemy leader. With the proper team setup and enhancements on Maki, you’ll be able to cut the battles short by directly assassinating the enemy Leader.
Anna
Class: HealTraits: AoE Healing, Party Buff
Anna is one the, if not the best, healer in the game so far. Her unique skill Starlight Promise restores HP to all allies equal to 265% of her ATK value while also restoring 300 rage to herself. Her normal attack, Encore, she’ll be able to restore HP equal to 100% of her ATK to an ally with the lowest HP. Furthermore, her presence in the field alone gives a considerable buff to her allies, thanks to her combat passive Popular Songstress. As long as she’s present on the field, all allies will have a 16.5% DMG Rate buff.
Her passive also has a secondary Lineup Skill which activates as long as your team consists of at least 5 partners with different classes. While Anna is present, she and all allies deployed after her will get a 10% DMG Rate and 10% DMG RES Rate buffs. There’s no doubt that Anna will be able to sustain your team as long as she’s protected.
Kasumi
Class: AttackTraits: High CRIT, DPS-focused unit.
Similar to Maki, Kasumi is a potent attacker. However, she excels with damage-focused, CRIT-boosting effects of her skills. Her unique skill, Deadly Curse, can damage an entire column of enemies while increasing her CRIT rate by 60%. However, she’ll lose 40% of her HP as a trade-off.
Kasumi’s combat passive, Expert Forger, gives her 55% CRIT DMG increase as soon as she’s deployed on the field while also stealing the Invincible and Shield effects of all enemies and applying them to herself. Due to the nature of her unique skill and combat passive, knowing the proper timing when you’ll deploy her can turn the tide of battle to your favor.
Selena
Class: GuardianTraits: Leader protection, High Survivability
Selena is an excellent Guardian that’s best supported by allied healers. She can only attack single targets but her Unique Skill and Combat Passive can keep your Leader protected. Her unique skill, Divine Judgement deals 400% DMG to a single target, with 35% of the DMG Dealt used to heal the Leader.
Her Combat Passive, Golden Time, gives her immunity to 2 Fatal Damage, giving her excellent survivability and field presence. Furthermore, if your team’s average energy is greater than or equal to 14, her Lineup Skill will be activated: Whenever an Ally Partner appears on the field, she grants the Leader a shield equal to 10% of her own HP.
Yuffie
Class: SorcererTraits: Heavy AoE DPS, Sorcerer-class Boost
Yuffie is a great AoE DPS unit but will show her true potential in Sorcerer-heavy teams. Her combat passive, Reincarnation, increases the AoE damage of all ally partners by a certain amount, with the effect doubled on Yuffie. This means she has boosted AoE attack damage as long as she’s present on the field. Her combat passive has another effect that gets activated by deploying 5 sorcerer-class partners. Once activated, all sorcerer-class allied partners will get a 20% DMG boost against enemy partners with Energy cost greater or equal to 14. Her unique skill, Abyss, also has a similar effect where all enemies will take 210% DMG, with enemies with Energy cost greater or equal to 14 taking additional 15% DMG.
Phoebe
Class: LightTraits: AoE DMG with Debuff, Auto-Revive
Phoebe is a great unit to have, thanks to her unique skill Phoenix’s Blessing that deals damage to all enemies while also lowering their DEF by 25% for 10 seconds. This 10-second debuff window is best followed-up by another AoE attack, preferably from a Sorcerer-class partner. However, Phoebe’s best skill is her combat passive, Rebirth, which allows her to auto-revive once per battle, with the following buffs applied to her: ATK +110%, DEF +50%, and 500 Rage. This allows her to have a second wind of opportunity to contribute to the battle. This combat passive also has a Lineup Skill that’s activated by having at least 5 Light or Healing partners. When the requirement is met, Phoebe can apply the Invincible status to 3 random allied units once she’s deployed on the field. This status lasts for 20 seconds, which is an unarguably long period considering that matches are usually around the 2-minute mark.
Rotania
Class: SorcererTraits: Column and AoE, High CRIT DPS
Rotania is very straightforward; all of her attacks can deal damage to multiple enemies. Her normal and special attacks can damage entire columns of enemies while her unique skill, Ultimate Reversal, can dish out DMG equal to 200% of her ATK stat. If the enemies have Summoned units on the field, those units will take 1.5 times more damage from this attack.
Rotania’s combat passive, Insight, doesn’t have a lineup skill but has a very potent effect: Increases Rotania’s CRIT Rate by 7% for every enemy unit on the field. This can be bumped to 10% CRIT Rate boost for every enemy once she reaches Lens 5 (5-star), making her a devastating CRIT machine.
Saya
Class: AttackTraits: Insta-kill potential, Enemy Unit Assassin
Saya is one of the game’s main MCs, and the game's poster girl. She will start out as R but can be upgraded to a formidable SSR unit by completing various tasks in the game. She’s the best free unit that you’ll get and should be able to carry your team as you try to get more powerful, top-tier characters. Her unique attack King of Sixth Heaven can deal a whooping 500% damage to the target, with enemy partners taking additional DMG equal to 15% of their max HP.
Her attacks are all single-target but she shines with her combat passive, Rule By Strength that gives her a 25% chance to Seckill a target. Seckill is basically insta-kill, regardless of the enemy’s HP, Invincible, or Death RES status. This Seckill chance can be further enhanced once she reaches Lens 5 (5-star).
