Crossing Void - Global Guide

Last Updated:

These characters can dish out great amounts of damage to a single target or multiple enemies through raw attack power, high crit rate, or a combination of the two. Some of them may even gain buffs after attacking or apply debuffs to enemies. In this page, we will list some of the best characters in terms of damage output and crowd control capability. Take note that this is not a countdown; just a list of characters you can consider adding to your team if you want to increase your damage output.

Shana (Shakugan no Shana)

You can find Shana on high spots of most tier lists and there’s no wonder why. Her basic attack (Shinku, 0SP) and Skill 2 (Hien, 4SP) can deal Physical and Special damage to all enemies while the latter can also inflict Bleed to all enemies that can stay up to 2 rounds. Even her Ult (Kessen Ougi) deals great damage to all enemies while also leaving a Bleed effect that can last for a round. The Bleed status can eat up through the enemies’ HP quickly, especially if not dispelled immediately.

Best DPS Characters

Her unique talent is Flame of Heaven which allows her to gain the Morale buff, which increases the group’s damage for a certain amount for several rounds. This effect can be stacked up to 5 layers. Like other unique talents, she won’t start with this; you have to use Talent Alteration and spend character fragments until you unlock this effect. Once you do, keep it and only replace it when you unlock a better version of it.

Best DPS Characters

You can further enhance Shana’s Bleed effect by equipping her a complete curio set like the “Baker” and “Gather Up! Gekota” sets, as shown below.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Shana

Wilhelmina

As Shana’s closest ally in her story, Wilhelmina’s cross skill with Shana (Flame Haze from Tendokyu) only costs 4 SP but deals both P.Damage and SP.Damage to all enemies. At the same time, her Ribbon Seal attack can deal P.Damage and SP.Damage to a front row enemy while also sealing the target for a turn, making her an ideal support for Shana and stopping an enemy’s frontline attacker from acting for a round.

Best DPS Characters

Erio

As a sub, Erio provides good utility through healing and cleansing. This uses up Shana’s turn and prevents her to deal damage but she can be a good backup support if healing is not needed. Erio’s support skill, “Alien’s Supply” can heal all party members and remove up to 2 damaging effects. Her cross skill with Shana (Girls with Sparkling Hair, 4SP), grants a damage-absorbing shield to an ally group while also dampening the attack of all enemies for a certain amount for 1 round.

Best DPS Characters

Yukina

Yukina’s sub-skill (Mighty Spike, 0SP) deals P.Damage and SP.Damage to all enemies, pretty much the same as Shana’s. However, she shines as a great support with Shana through their cross-skill (Guardians of Order, 6SP) that deals P.Damage and SP.Damage to all enemies while also dispelling up to 2 enemy buffs. This is perfect for breaking through pesky enemy groups buffed with damage-absorbing shields and increased healing rates.

Best DPS Characters

Asuna (Main, Sword Art Online)

Asuna is another damage specialist, especially against front row enemies. Her Skill 2 (Neutron, 2SP) not only deals high damage to a front row enemy, it also boosts her damage for 1 round. Her ult, Mother’s Rosario, can greatly boost her crit rate during the attack, dealing a huge amount of damage to a front row enemy.

Her exclusive talent, “Floor-clearing Demon”, increases her crit rate when she attacks, making her even more destructive with the proper skill levels and curios. Once you’re able to get this talent, keep altering it but don’t replace it until you get a better version.

Best DPS Characters

Thanks to Asuna’s consistent damage output, you’ll want to keep her attacking every round if possible. As such, mid row is her preferred position since she can avoid most of the damage usually being dealt to front row units and also avoid pesky seals that can usually target front or rear row units. However, you can still have her take the front row position if she is properly leveled and equipped.

Best DPS Characters

Also, you can give her curio sets that further increase potential damage and those that boost that damage of her normal attack skills, such as the ones below.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Asuna

Yuuki

You’ll want Asuna to have Yuuki as sub primarily for their alternate Ult skill, “‘11-Combo Fencing Technique” which triggers a joint attack with Asuna and Yuuki, very similar to Mother’s Rosario but targeting the middle row enemy instead. If there’s only 2 enemies remaining, this ult will allow you to take out the back row enemy, which is the usual position of pesky support or healer characters. The only downside for this ult is that it costs 12 Ult pts.

While stocking up on ult points for their cross-ult, you can also take advantage of Yuuki’s support skill, Sky Piercer. This move only costs 3SP and will allow you to deal damage to a front row enemy while also debuffing the target by increasing the damage the target will take for a round.

Best DPS Characters

Kirito

You’ll only want Kirito as Asuna’s sub if you don’t have Yuuki. Otherwise, it’s better to keep Yuuki. If you want to keep Kirito as Asuna’s partner, you can take advantage of his Sonic Impact (3SP) that damages all enemies and reduces their damage output temporarily. On the other hand, his cross skill with Asuna just deals raw damage to a front-line enemy.

Best DPS Characters

Miyuki (Main, The Irregular at Magic High School)

Miyuki is a potent spellcaster and probably the best of her kind in the game. She deals raw Sp.Damage to all enemies with her normal skills and her ult. Her Skill 2 (Zone Interference, 3SP) deals considerable damage to all enemies while also removing up to 2 of their buffs. Because of this skill’s low SP cost, you can consistently use this skill to prevent enemies from effectively taking advantage of their buffs. Her ult is Inferno, an AoE attack that also debuffs enemies, increasing their damage taken by a certain percentage for 1 round.

Miyuki’s exclusive talent is Snow Queen, which allows your team to deal bonus damage if one of the enemy’s HP is under 30%. Reaching this threshold is not particularly hard especially if your team has heavy hitters or those that deal DoT (damage over time) like Bleed. Like other exclusive talents, she won’t start with this talent in her set. Keep altering her talents until you unlock this; once you do, keep it and only replace it with a better version.

Best DPS Characters

Also, you can give her curio sets that further increase potential damage and those that boost that damage of her normal attack skills, such as the ones below.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Miyuki

Zero

Zero and Miyuki’s cross skill is called “Magical Girls” (5SP) which is a potent AoE attack that deals heavy Sp.Damage. On top of that, her support skill, “Magic Seal” (5SP) deals Sp. Damage to a mid row enemy and also sealing the target for 1 round. This is a great added utility for Miyuki during her turn, especially when she needs to shut down an annoying mid row enemy support or attacker.

Best DPS Characters
Best DPS Characters

Asuna

Asuna and Miyuki’s cross skill is actually an 8UP ult called “Song of Super Idol”. This is a dual-edged buff that increases your team’s damage output by a certain percentage for 2 rounds while the enemy gains a similar damage buff albeit a smaller percentage and good only for one round.

Best DPS Characters

Asuna also brings a very useful utility skill on the table called Twinkling Star (4SP) that deals P.Damage to the back row enemy and sealing the target for 1 round. This is perfect for shutting down enemy support units who usually buff or heals them.

Best DPS Characters

Mikoto Misaka (Main, A Certain Magical Index)

As one of the members of your free starting party, Mikoto holds high in most tier lists even when she starts with a B-grade because of her reliability and consistency. Like Miyuki, Mikoto specializes with AoE Sp.Damage attacks. Both her normal skills, Lightning Strike (0SP) and Electro Shock (3SP) can deal damage to all enemies, with the latter capable of inflicting the Bleed status effect for 2 rounds. Her ult, Railgun, can deal heavy Sp.Damage to all enemies as well, perfect for softening up mid and back row enemies or finishing them if they’re low on HP.

Best DPS Characters

Mikoto’s exclusive talent is called Electromaster, which gives her a 50% chance of increasing the damage taken by a target by a certain percentage. Similar to Shana, Mikoto will benefit heavily from curio sets that will enhance her damage and bleed effects, such as the ones listed below.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Mikoto

Touma

Touma and Mikoto allows Mikoto to use her turn to focus on a front row enemy instead of distributing her damage across all enemies. Their cross skill “Electromaster and Imagine Breaker” (4SP) is a combo that can deal considerable damage to a front row enemy. Touma also brings another utility on the table in the form of an attack-dispel skill called “All Out” which deals a good amount of damage to a front row enemy while also dispelling up to 2 buffs on the target.

Best DPS Characters

Kuroko

Mikoto and Kuroko’s cross skill is “Railgun 2.0” (6SP) which allows them to deal heavy damage to all enemies. Due to the high SP cost, you might have limited situations where to take advantage of this attack since you’ll probably want to use Mikoto’s AoE Bleed attack or Kuroko’s support skill instead.

Best DPS Characters

Kuroko’s support skill is called “Arrest” (5SP) that allows her to seal a back row enemy for 1 round, perfect for reaching pesky support or healing units that you’ll normally have problems reaching by normal means.

Best DPS Characters

Shizuo

Shizuo and Mikoto’s cross skill is called “Vending Machine Killers” (4SP) which deals both physical and arcane damage to all enemies while also Wounding them, lowering their healing effects by a certain percentage. Due to its relatively low SP cost, you’ll be able to use this AoE Wound attack to deal with teams with heavy healers or supports. Shizuo’s support skill (Weird Pitcher, 3SP) is only a generic attack that deals physical damage to a front-row enemy so you’ll want to use Mikoto’s turn to use their cross skill instead or Mikoto’s AoE Bleed attack, whenever possible.

Best DPS Characters

Accelerator

Accelerator gives Mikoto 2 more AoE attacks during her turn. Their cross skill “Pinnacle of Academy City” (5SP) deals both p.damage and sp.damage to all enemies while his support skill is a 8UP, double-edged ult called “Accelerator” (same name) that deals even more heavier p.damage and sp.damage to all enemies but increases the damage taken afterward.

Best DPS Characters

Kuroyukihime (Main, Accel World)

Unlike the other DPS units in this list, Kuroyukihime can punish mid-row enemies specifically and she’s really good at it. Unless she’s properly leveled or equipped, her consistency and reliability however, will depend on the enemy composition you’re trying to deal with. For example, on certain story maps, you have to prioritize taking out the middle enemy first because it can cause you a lot of problems if left alone.

Her skill 2 (Black King, 2SP) not only deals p.damage to a mid-row enemy, it also buffs her damage for 1 round. Her ult, Starburst Stream, deals heavy damage to middle row enemies as well. On the other hand, her exclusive talent, Total Severance is a bit different from her skill set as it allows her to deflect a certain amount of damage back to the attacker.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Kuroyukihime

Kirito

Kuroyukihime and Kirito’s cross skill has the same name as their individual ults. When partnering, their cross ult version of Starburst Stream (12 ult) deals even more damage to all enemies. As a sub, Kirito’s support skill, “Sonic Impact” (3SP) can deal p.damage to all enemies while debuffing them as well at the same time, reducing their damage dealt.

Best DPS Characters
[br /]

Haruyuki

Haruyuki provides even more mid-row attack options that you can utilize during Kuroyukihime’s turn. His support skill, “Laser Blade” (3SP) can deal damage to a mid-row enemy and buff his partner’s damage dealt by a certain percentage, similar to Kuroyukihime’s Skill 2 (Black King, 2SP). Their cross skill “Black Lotus and Silver Crow” (5SP) is basically and even more powerful mid-row attack.

Best DPS Characters

Kuroko (Main, A Certain Magical Index)

Kuroko is a back row specialist, with attacks focusing on targeting enemies on that position. Since most support or healing units are placed on the back row, Kuroko bypasses the sturdier front and mid row enemies and just goes straight to take out the back row. This method of attacking is very useful especially against enemy formations that have heavy healer or buff support in the back row. However, similar to Kuroyukihime, her consistency and reliability will depend on the enemy composition you’re trying to deal with. If trained Kuroko and gave her proper skill upgrades and equipment, she can be a very potent back row assassin.

Her 2SP Teleport Arts skill can damage the back row enemy and buff her damage dealt by a certain percentage. At the same time, Kuroko’s ult, “Justice Enforcer” (10UP) boasts a high crit rate and can deal heavy damage to a back row target. Furthermore, if you have unlocked her exclusive talent “LV4 Esper”, your group can get a temporary damage boost after using her ult.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Kuroko

Mikoto

Kuroko only has two cross supports, both are from her origin story. First is with Mikoto (sub), called “Best Roommates” (6SP). This skill allows her to deal a large amount of damage to all enemies instead of the back row only.

Best DPS Characters

At the same time, Mikoto’s support skill “Shooting Star” (4SP) can deal both p.damage and sp.damage to all enemies while also debuffing them and increasing their damage taken, making them very effective partners.

Best DPS Characters

Kazari

Kazari’s cross skill with Kuroko is called “Judgement 177 Branch Office” (4SP). This gives Kuroko another option to deal a good amount of p.damage to a back row enemy.

Best DPS Characters

However, Kazari’s support skill is even more desirable. Her “Intel Analysis” (2SP) skill can remove up to 2 debuffs from all your allies and restore a bit of their HP if at least 1 debuff has been removed, good for 2 rounds. With its relatively low SP cost, you should be able to take advantage of this all-expel skill.

Best DPS Characters

Yukina (Main, Strike the Blood)

Yukina is another reliable AoE DPS with the capability to debuff enemies. Her Skill 1 (Wild Strike, 0SP) and ult (Strike the Blood, 10UP) can deal both p.damage and sp.damage to all enemies. However, her Skill 2 “Wakaikazuchi” (3SP) not only deals AoE p.damage and sp.damage to all enemies but also dispels up to 2 buffs from them, perfect for dealing with teams who heavily uses buffs and healing.

Best DPS Characters

Her exclusive talent “Shaman of the High God” is an outstanding buff that increases your team’s damage once at least one of the enemy units are below 70% health. Since exclusive talents can’t be debuffed, you can easily reach this threshold especially if you have other characters that can deal focused DPS on a single target.

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Yukina

Touma

Touma and Yukina’s cross skill is called Imagine Breakers (5SP) which can deal a good amount of damage to a front row enemy and seal the target for 1 round. Touma also brings another utility on the table in the form of an attack-dispel skill called “All Out” which deals a good amount of damage to a front row enemy while also dispelling up to 2 buffs on the target.

Best DPS Characters

Yukina’s other support is Rentaro. However, unlike Touma who can give you the ability to Seal and Dispel, Rentaro only has a support skill that can deal damage to front and mid row enemies, and an AoE cross skill that deals p.damage.

Best DPS Characters

Kojyo (Main, Strike the Blood)

Kojyo is somewhat of a hybrid; all of his offensive and cross skills are AoE based but his Skill 2 is almost comparable to Ako's ult. His Skill 1 (Regulus Aurum, 3SP) deals moderate sp.damage to all enemies and his ult, Kiffa Ater (12UP), which deals both p.damage and sp.damage while also debuffing, increasing their damage taken for 1 round.

However, the important part of his skill set is his Skill 2, Sadalmelik Albus which is a universal cleansing and party-wide heal skill. While the skill costs 6SP, it removes all debuffs and damaging effects from allies, dispels all buffs from enemies, and heals your allies as well. This is very similar to Ako’s ult, Sacred Hymn, minus the 1-round debuff immunity. It’s also worth noting that since this skill costs SP, it will also allow you to give your ult points stock a huge boost upon using this, giving your other allies a chance to use their ults earlier.

Best DPS Characters

His exclusive talent “The Fourth Progenitor” allows him to survive a fatal hit and restores a bit of his HP. This can be particularly useful especially when this extra chance of life allows him to use his Skill 2. Unfortunately, this also means that this talent’s benefit will be situational.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Kojyo

Kojyo only has two cross supports with Kirito and Yukina. First one is Kirito. This enables Kojyo to use the “Gentle Brothers” AoE attack, costs 5SP and deals both p.damage and sp.damage to all enemies. With Kirito (Sub) is partnered with Kyojo, you’ll also be able to use Kirito’s own AoE attack “Sonic Impact” (3SP) that deals p.damage to all enemies while also reducing the damage they deal.

Best DPS Characters

Similar to Kirito, Yukina also gives Kojyo an AoE attack that deals both p.damage and sp.damage to all enemies called “The 4th Progenitor & Sword Shaman” (5SP). However, Yukina and Kojyo’s cross skill AoE seems to have higher base power and damage that of Kirito’s. In addition, with Yukina as sub, you can also use her standard 0SP AoE attack “Mighty Spike”. Kojyo lacks a 0SP skill which can force him to skip a turn if there’s not enough SP in your gauge by the time his turn arrives. Pairing up with Yukina patches up this weakness.

Best DPS Characters

Alternatively, you can pair other sub characters with Kojyo but you have to consider that he needs at least 3SP available by the time his turn comes so he can use his basic AoE attack at least. Pairing him up with subs that provide utility with low SP skills will help you address this. Here are some examples.

* Ryuji: (Happy Box, 2SP) Remove up to 2 debuffs from your team. Generates a shield good for 1 round for your allies if at least 1 debuff was removed.

* Kazari: (Intel Analysis, 2SP) Removes up to 2 debuffs from allies and heals them for 2 rounds if at least 1 debuff has been removed.

* Kouko: (Passionate Kisses, 2SP) Applies healing buff "Lady's Affection" to all allies good for 3 rounds; can’t be dispelled. Using this skill again while Lady’s Affection buff is still active, to turn it to the “Seasoning of Love” buff that removes up to 2 damaging debuffs and will further increase healing for all allies.

Best DPS Characters

Kirito (Main, Sword Art Online)

Kirito is one of the fastest characters in the game. When paired with a sub character with a high speed stat, it’s almost guaranteed for his group to act first. His Skill 1 (Spinning Shield, 0SP) can target a front row enemy and deal p.damage while also giving Kirito a damage-absorbing shield, making him a bit tanky and perfect for the frontlines.

His Skill 2 (Horizontal Square, 3SP) deals p.damage to all enemies and reduce their healing received. This skill alone can effectively deal with enemy teams with heavy healing. Even if the enemy team has no active healers, this skill is also a good AoE attack. Kirito’s ult is Starburst Stream, a powerful AoE attack. There are no buffs or debuffs so this ult is pure DPS.

Kirito’s exclusive talent is called “Beater”. This allows him to reduce the SP cost of his next action by 1 SP and increases the group’s damage taken. While there’s a minor debuff for this talent’s effect, the SP reduction is quite valuable especially if you’re going to use Kirito’s partner’s support or cross skill.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Kirito

Asuna (Sub)

The sub version of Asuna boasts a really high speed so if paired with Kirito, they’re almost guaranteed to get the first strike. Their cross skill “Lovers in Aincrad” (4SP) gives Kirito an alternate front row attack. Furthermore, Asuna’s skill is a back seal called "Twinkling Star", capable of dealing a good amount of p.damage to a back row enemy and seal the target for 1 round. When you get the chance, you can easily lock down a back row enemy, especially if that enemy is a healer or support unit.

Best DPS Characters
Best DPS Characters

Yuuki (Sub)

Yuuki is also another exceptionally speedy character with 808 speed. This will further complement Kirito’s speed, allowing you to take advantage of Yuuki’s support skill, Sky Piercer. This move only costs 3SP and will allow you to deal damage to a front row enemy while also debuffing the target by increasing the damage the target will take for a round. Their cross skill, “The Strongest in Alo?” (4SP) is also an attack skill that deals damage to a front row enemy and reduce their damage dealt.

Best DPS Characters

Rusian (Sub)

Rusian’s speed is not that great but that won’t drag Kirito down. He makes up for it with his great support skill and cross skill with him. Grand Cross (4SP) is Rusian’s AoE skill that deals both p.damage and sp.damage, weakening them - increasing their damage taken.

Best DPS Characters

Kirito’s cross skill with Rusian is called “Model Boyfriends”. This 5SP skill is capable of dealing AoE damage while also increasing the enemies’ damage taken for a round. This also inflicts Bleed to all enemies for 2 rounds.

Best DPS Characters

Qwenthur (Main, Heavy Object)

Qwenthur is simply a pure AoE DPS character. His Skill 1, Skill 2, and Ults all deal AoE damage. While his powerful AoE skill set might seem attractive, he has some notable downsides. First, he’s terribly slow for a combatant, with 350 SPD. His exclusive talent, “Tactician” is quite underwhelming as well. This talent gives him a 50% chance to expel 1 debuff before his next action. When this takes effect, he’ll suffer a debuff which lowers his crit rate.

However, don’t let this discourage you from using him. With proper curio sets and with proper support units, he can reliably mow down enemy teams, especially for story missions.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Qwenthur

Out of all his cross supports, the only reliable one is his cross skill with Frolaytia. Their cross skill “Gentle Soldier & Sexy Commander” (4SP) can deal p.damage to all enemies while also inflicting a Bleed effect, good for 2 rounds. Frolaytia’s own skill is Madam’s Halo, which gives Qwenthur access to an AoE damage reduction buff.

Best DPS Characters

If you don’t have Frolaytia, you can give him partners with high Attack growth to further complement his damage output, along with other utility skills such as Wilhelmina (front seal), Boogiepop (front seal), Kuroyukihime (mid seal), and Zero (mid seal).

Izaya (Main, Durara!!)

Izaya’s a mid row DPS. His Skill 1 (New Hobby, 0SP) and Ult (Deadly Trap, 10UP) are both great mid-row attacks while his Skill 2 (Kamaitachi’s Edge, 3SP) is an AoE attack that deals p.damage and inflicts Recoil for 2 rounds. Unfortunately, he’s quite slow for a DPS unit.

Izaya’s exclusive talent is called “Information Broker”, which increases the damage of the group when at least 1 character suffers a debuff. This activation threshold is quite easy to achieve so make sure to keep this talent once you unlocked it.

Best DPS Characters

* Recommended Cross/Supports for Izaya

Izaya has some good cross partners that you can use to adjust accordingly, depending on the characters you have and your current team’s composition. The best one so far is with Celty. Their cross skill “Transporter & Client” (5SP) further complements Izaya’s mid-row capacity through mid-row damage and seal. Celty’s skill “Coiste, charge!” (4SP) is an AoE attack that also weakens enemy damage dealt for a round.

Best DPS Characters

Kazari is also a good cross option for Izaya. Her “Intel Analysis” (2SP) skill can remove up to 2 debuffs from all your allies and restore a bit of their HP if at least 1 debuff has been removed, good for 2 rounds. With its relatively low SP cost, you should be able to take advantage of this all-expel skill. Their cross skill “Intelligence is Power” (5SP) adds another reliable AoE attack to Izaya’s attack options.

Best DPS Characters

Another good cross skill for Izaya is the one with Shizuo. Their cross skill “Mortal Enemies” (5SP) gives Izaya another AoE attack option with a Weak debuff. Shizuo’s skill “Weird Pitcher” (3SP) gives Izaya a front row attack option as well.
