The combat heroes that you use in your legions will vary a great deal depending on what you need to achieve and more importantly on what you have available. However there is a great deal of discussion in the game on what are the best combinations and placements of heroes of the different types to make your legion as strong as possible.
We have done some research here and compiled some data and opinions from several sources to come up with a top list of hero combinations to try out.
Hero Lists
The effectiveness of using the lists below will depend on you having the heroes maxed out and as the list contains X heroes it will not be applicable to newer players who are not yet advanced enough in the game to have unlocked them. However even if you do not have all of the heroes or are still working to unlock all the skills the lists will give you an idea of something to aim for.
