Can you slow down your research to catch the right hourly challenge?
You cannot slow it down.
It used to be possible to delay the completion by closing the app completely so that you are not seen as online and only opening it when the appropriate challenge was active to let the research complete then and get the points. I am not sure if this still works.

Log into your farm castle before the research period ends. From there, track the hourly activity. Switch back to your main castle when the research event arrives. Then you will get your points. Thus, you can improve your farm castle during the cooldown you spend on the farm.
