Can I put existing buildings in storage to make room! When will I be able to expand?

You cannot remove buildings once they are placed, only move them around. As you level up you will have the option to expand the grounds of the castle. You can check around the outside for areas with a padlock symbol. Tapping these can let you know if or when you can access them.
