Why are cavalry troops considered the best for gathering?

Why are cavalry troops considered the best for gathering? Everything I've read online states they have a higher load value but this is not true. As an example, all three troop types (footman, cavalry, archer) at T6 have a load value of 11. If all have the same load value, what makes cavalry the better choice?

You may have misread the stats. T6 cavalry have a load value of 22. The best troops to gather with are actually T1 Cavalry with a load value of 30. Although it may not be worth keeping around a large quantity of T1 cavalry to do this. Especially if you are a farmer class as you will have gathering perks.

T1 cavalry has higher load, and you can get more rss when using T1 to raid your farms compared to T6 and up. Also, T1 is very useful when gathering because of higher load, you'd need only a few of them. This is especially important during KE because some jerks attack gathering troops.
