How are courage medals used? I have 256 of them and can't seem to find how to spend them!

Courage medals are needed to do certain research items in the institute. Initially this will be in the Basic Combat tree, but as you open more research options you will find many others. As you level up you will need to spend hundreds of thousands of courage medals on research, but you will also be able to earn many more through rewards.
