You can activate a shield at any time from your castle, if you don't have any from rewards saved up then you can buy them with gems or alliance contribution points in the alliance store.

Once activated they run for a fixed amount of time. You can add another one at any time but you will replace any active shield and start a new timer.

While active you cannot be attacked by troops. No enemy can send a legion to attack you / raid your resources. You can still be attacked by dragon shouts though, so if you are over level 19 your should make some anti dragon bolts.

While the shield is active you also cannot attack or scout any enemy player. If you do then your shield will drop. If you cause your shield to drop in this way then there will also be a timeout (cooldown) before you can activate a new shield. You can still attack monsters, gather etc.

I am trying to shield up, but it's telling me I cannot shield because I'm scouting or attacking. All of my 4 troops are back. I did not attack anyone or scouted. Is there any other reasons why it's saying that?.

I got a peace shield out of nowhere. I didn't have one and didn't have enough to buy one. When someone attempted to attack me, I gained a peace shield just before he reached my castle. How is this possible?? He was triple my power level btw

I just read the cooldown period before acquiring new shield after attacking is one minute for each level that your castle is. I.e. level10 castle equals 10 minute cooldown period. Do you feel lucky punk? Well do you? Lol

My peace shield activated on it's own. Can you tell me why that happened?

Seemingly the first time you're attacked, there's a dialogue the next time you log in (I had to log out and then back in for it to trigger) where Isabella tells you "we'll need you next time", and she's supposedly shielded you afterwards (should last 24h after the attack, but that attack still passes and if you lost, you lost).
